What an incredible honor to ensure our students realize they are here to do God's work - called to the mission of Jesus. I consider the opportunity to be a Principal an immense privilege, and to be so at St. Marguerite d'Youville School, a complete blessing. St. Marguerite is not like any other school. This school really "works". This school really is special. As I re-play my memories here at St. Marguerite, I have developed a deeper understanding of what makes our school so special.
What Makes St. Marguerite d’Youville so Special?
Our Staff are special. I am blessed to work with the most talented, dedicated, and faith-filled group of educators I have ever met. Thay have so many unique gifts that they share and I learn so much from each and every one of them on a daily basis. I respect their judgement, I admire their pedagogy, and I am inspired by their commitment to their faith as Catholic educators.
Our staff go above and beyond to provide exciting and enriching opportunities both inside and outside of the classroom. Countless hours are given up before and after school, over lunches, evenings, and weekends so that we can run the various teams and clubs here at school - all in pursuit of the ongoing development of mind, body, and spirit.

Our parents are Special - We are so blessed to have such an amazing group of volunteers here in the school who give countless hours in support of our teachers and students. From lunch time programs to volunteering on class trips, literacy committees to the milk program, we are so fortunate to have such wonderful partners in education. As partners, we are committed to student success and their on-going development. We truly are partners in Catholic education.
Together, we are responsible for more than reading, writing, and math – our common goal is also the spiritual and moral development of our students. Our vocation calls us to lead by example, to set and enforce codes of conduct for behaviour, to praise students for good work and to make them responsible for their actions when they make poor decisions.

Our Students are Special - I continue to be impressed with how our students conduct themselves in the classroom, the hallways, and in the yard not only with myself and staff, but also with each other. The culture here is one of respect and dignity which is infectious. The result is They are the most obvious reflection of a supportive and loving parent community and a dedicated and talented group of teachers.

Our Catholic School Council is Special - The Catholic School Council plays an integral role in the life of our school community. The school council is an important advisory group that serves by taking on a variety of initiatives for the benefit of our students. Their hard work, organization, and on-going efforts on behalf of our students is so appreciated.
What Makes St. Marguerite So Special?
Our Commitment to our Faith is Special - more than simply a school community, we are a Faith Community united in our commitment to follow Christ's example and to teach our children how to read, write, and count, and how to be moral Christ-centric servants. I continue to refer to Paul's letter to the Ephesians, Chapter 4, verses 1-16 as he is writing to a young faith-filled Christian community about how to be a community in Christ and and example to others. He tells the Ephesians to model humility, compassion, and exemplify service to others. We often refer to a Christian community as the Body of Christ. A body has many parts, and those parts are all active contributors to the whole. Being a part of the body means playing an active role in the health of the community. In this regard, we are so fortunate to have so many contributors to our vibrant Faith Community.
