Ontario Youth Apprenticeship Program
Ontario Youth Apprenticeship Program (OYAP) has been specifically designed to help Secondary School students interested in Apprenticeship gain the knowledge, skills, and experience necessary for them to prepare for an apprenticeship program. These courses are intended to help prepare the student for their future community college trade school program. Students should consider the following options:
OYAP Co-op offers a student the chance to develop specific skills to help them prepare for apprenticeship and the opportunity to explore options. By taking technology courses and combining these courses with Co-op, it helps students to gain knowledge, skills and work experience. OYAP Co-op is offered at every Secondary School in the Halton Catholic District School Board.
Concentrated OYAP provides students with the unique opportunity to fast track by completing the first post-secondary apprenticeship component while still in secondary school. Concentrated OYAP helps prepare the student for transition into community college courses by emphasizing academic readiness and apprenticeship knowledge. Transition into workplace is supported through development of specific skills, safety awareness and work experience. Concentrated OYAP is offered only at designated schools throughout the Halton Region.
For any apprenticeship program, students are asked to indicate their interest on the option sheet and contact Student Services for more information.
