P.A. Day
Monday, February 1st is a P.A. Day.  There are no classes for the students.  Classes resume on Tuesday, February 2nd.
The Olympic Torch Comes to Canadian Martyrs
On Thursday, February 4th the Olympic Torch will be coming to Canadian Martyrs School in the afternoon.  We will be having our own version of the Olympic Opening Ceremonies in our gymnasium as we prepare for our Winter Olympic French "Carnaval" on Friday, February 5th.  Deana Rokowski, who carried the Olympic Torch along Fairview Street in Burlington will be presenting the details of her experience to the students.  This promises to be an exciting afternoon at the school! 
First Reconciliation
Our Grade 2 students will be receiving the Sacrament of First Reconciliation on Tuesday, February 16th at 7:00 p.m.   This celebration takes place in our school gym and library.  We pray that this will be a very special experience for our students.
Ash Wednesday
There will be an Ash Wednesday liturgy in our gym on Wednesday, February 17th at 11:00 a.m.  Parents and members of the parish are welcome to join us for the reception of ashes.
Parent Meeting on School Uniforms
A Parent Information Meeting on School Uniforms is being held in our gym on Thursday, February 18th at 7:00 p.m.  The purpose of this meeting is to provide parents with  information so that they are able to make an informed decision with respect to their vote on this initiative. 
Confirmation
Our Grade 8 students will be receiving the Sacrament of Confirmation on Saturday, February 20th at 1:00 p.m. at St. Paul the Apostle Church.  There will be a group photo with the Bishop at 12:40 p.m.  Students are to arrive at the Church with their sponsors no later that 12:30 p.m.
School Council Meeting
We will be having our next School Council meeting on Monday, February 22, 2010.  The meeting begins at 7:00 p.m. in the school library.
Volunteers Needed!
We will need volunteers for activities and events during the 2009-2010 school year.  If you are interested in volunteering this year, you will need to obtain a Police Records Check including the vulnerable screening sector clearance.  Please contact Mr. Rokowski at the school if you have any questions about volunteering opportunities at the school.
H1N1 Flu Virus
A note from the Director of Education, Mr. Pautler, was sent home with our students on September 9, 2009 regarding the H1N1 virus.  For additional information and updates, please check the Halton Catholic District School Board website at http://www.hcdsb.org/h1n1.
